Achievement Guide

Tactical Quick Answer

Barony has exactly 301 Steam achievements across the base game and three DLC packs (Myths and Outcasts, Legends and Pariahs, and Deserters and Disciples). Every achievement you unlock earns Lore Points, which you spend in the Compendium to permanently reveal enemy weaknesses, health values, and damage types. Full 100 percent completion takes 300 or more hours because of race and class combinations, challenge runs, cumulative milestones, and hidden triggers.

Barony has exactly 301 Steam achievements spanning the base game and three DLC packs (Myths & Outcasts, Legends & Pariahs, and Deserters & Disciples). Achievements serve a dual purpose: bragging rights and meta-progression. Every achievement you unlock earns Lore Points, which you spend in the Compendium to permanently reveal enemy weaknesses, health values, and damage types. Going for 100% completion is a long-term commitment, but every achievement you unlock makes future runs easier through the Compendium bonuses.

info

The Compendium is Barony's persistent meta-progression system. Lore Points earned from achievements are spent between runs to research enemy entries. Once researched, an enemy's hidden stats are permanently visible in all future runs. This means achievement hunting has a direct mechanical payoff.

Progression Achievementsโ€‹

These unlock by reaching milestones in the main dungeon. They come naturally as you play through the 35-floor dungeon.

AchievementHow to Unlock
Twisty PassagesClear the Mines region (Floors 1 to 5).
Jungle FeverClear the Swamp region (Floors 6 to 10).
SandmanClear the Sand Labyrinth region (Floors 11 to 15).
Lich HunterDefeat Baron Herx in the Lich's Bastion on Floor 20. This is the mid-game boss, not the final boss.
Evil IncarnateDefeat Baphomet at the end of Hell, reached through the Underworld portal on Floor 18.
Theseus' LegacyClear the Minotaur Maze secret level.
The "Baron" seriesFinish the game at the Citadel. Separate Baron achievements track the feat for each class and race, which is where most of the 301 achievements live.
tip

Defeating Baron Herx is the first major milestone. Focus all early runs on reaching and beating Floor 20 before chasing other achievements. Everything after Herx is endgame content.

Class Completion Achievementsโ€‹

Beat the game (defeat the final boss) with each class to unlock that class's completion achievement. Completion also permanently unlocks DLC signature classes for all other races.

Base Game Classes (13 total)โ€‹

The base game classes are: Barbarian, Warrior, Healer, Rogue, Wanderer, Cleric, Merchant, Wizard, Arcanist, Joker, Sexton, Ninja, and Monk.

Each class has a completion achievement. Beat the game with all 13 to fill out the base class section.

warning

Some race/class combinations are significantly harder than others. Goblin Wizard is brutal because Goblins cannot memorize spells (they must cast from held books). Plan your race completion runs around combinations that play to each race's strengths.

Verified Hidden Achievementsโ€‹

Barony has several hidden achievements that reward specific, often obscure, gameplay scenarios. These do not appear in the Steam achievement list until you unlock them.

The Compendium and Lore Pointsโ€‹

Every achievement you unlock earns Lore Points. These points are spent in the Compendium between runs.

How the Compendium works:

  1. Open the Compendium from the main menu between dungeon runs.
  2. Browse the bestiary. Each enemy entry is initially locked.
  3. Spend Lore Points to research an enemy.
  4. Once researched, the enemy's hidden stats become permanently visible: base HP, damage type, elemental weaknesses, and resistances.
  5. This information persists across all future runs and all characters.
tip

Prioritize researching the enemies that kill you most often. If Djinn keep wiping your runs in the Sand Labyrinth, spend Lore Points on the Djinn entry to learn their weaknesses and damage output. This targeted research directly improves your survival on future runs.

Phase 1: Learn the Game (0-50 hours)โ€‹

  1. Play as Human Warrior or Human Cleric until you beat Baron Herx on Floor 20 at least once.
  2. Progression achievements (Mines, Swamp, Sand Labyrinth, Ruins, Herx) unlock along the way.
  3. Focus on learning enemy patterns, dungeon layouts, and resource management. Do not chase specific achievements.
  4. Spend earned Lore Points on enemies that kill you most.

Phase 2: Reach the True Ending (50-100 hours)โ€‹

  1. Push through the Hamlet, Crystal Caves, and Citadel to reach Floor 35.
  2. Defeat Erudyce and Orpheus at least once.
  3. This run earns a large batch of progression achievements (Crystal Caves, Citadel, True Ending).

Phase 3: Base Class Sweep (100-150 hours)โ€‹

  1. Beat the game with each of the 13 base classes.
  2. Start with comfortable classes (Warrior, Cleric, Monk) and save difficult ones (Joker, Merchant) for last.
  3. Cumulative kill, floor, and crafting milestones fill in during this phase.

Phase 4: DLC Race and Class Sweep (150-250 hours)โ€‹

  1. Work through each monster race from all three DLCs.
  2. Pair each race with its signature class first (the easiest combination for that race).
  3. After beating the game with each race, the signature class unlocks for all other races. Use this to attempt harder combinations.

Phase 5: Challenge Runs and Hidden Achievements (250+ hours)โ€‹

  1. Attempt speedrun and hardcore achievements.
  2. Hunt hidden achievements using community guides as reference.
  3. Defeat Baphomet via the Hell path.
  4. Clear secret levels for secret-level-specific achievements.
info

100% completion across all 301 achievements is a marathon. With race/class combinations, challenge runs, cumulative milestones, and hidden triggers, expect 300+ hours. The Compendium rewards make every achievement functionally useful, so the grind has mechanical payoff beyond just the completion percentage.

Frequently Asked Questionsโ€‹

How many achievements does Barony have?

Barony has exactly 301 Steam achievements. They span the base game and the three DLC packs: Myths and Outcasts, Legends and Pariahs, and Deserters and Disciples.

What do Lore Points actually do?

Lore Points come from unlocking achievements and are spent in the Compendium between runs. Researching an enemy entry permanently reveals that enemy's base HP, damage type, elemental weaknesses, and resistances across all future runs and all characters.

How long does 100 percent completion take in Barony?

Expect 300 or more hours. Race and class combinations, challenge runs, cumulative milestones, and hidden triggers all stack up, though the Compendium rewards give every achievement a mechanical payoff.

Which Barony achievement should I chase first?

Defeat Baron Herx in the Lich's Bastion on Floor 20. He is the first major milestone, and the Mines, Swamp, Sand Labyrinth, and Ruins progression achievements unlock on the way there.

Does beating the game with a monster race unlock anything?

Yes. Beating the game with a monster race unlocks that race's signature class permanently for every other race. Beat the game as a Skeleton, for example, and Conjurer becomes available to all races.
