Achievement Guide

Tactical Quick Answer

Monster Hunter Wilds has exactly 50 Steam achievements and none of them are missable, so you can earn every one on a single character after finishing the main campaign. Expect 200 or more hours to reach 100 percent completion, with crown hunting and Artian Weapon farming as the longest grinds. The final achievement, Eastward Wings, unlocks the moment you hold all other 49.

Monster Hunter Wilds has exactly 50 Steam achievements. No achievements are missable. You can earn every one on a single character after finishing the main campaign.

The final achievement, Eastward Wings, unlocks when you complete all other 49 achievements. Expect 200+ hours to reach 100% completion, with crown hunting and Artian Weapon farming being the longest grinds.

info

Steam achievements themselves are account-level and stay unlocked once they pop. What lives on your save file is the in-game Award progress underneath them, and the game gives you three character slots with one save each. Eastward Wings is the one that actually cares, because it reads your in-game award list, so spread your awards over two characters and it will never fire. Pick a character and stay on it.

Story Achievements (Secret)โ€‹

These unlock automatically as you progress through the main campaign. They are hidden in the Steam achievement list until you earn them, and they are eight of the thirteen achievements Steam flags as hidden. The other five are marked Secret below.

Crown Achievementsโ€‹

Crown hunting requires capturing or slaying monsters that spawn at the extreme ends of their size scale. Use binoculars in the field to check for a crown under a monster's name before engaging. They flag miniature crowns as well as silver and gold.

AchievementHow to Unlock
Miniature CrownObtain your first miniature crown in the Hunting Log.
Miniature Crown CollectorObtain a miniature crown for 10 or more monsters.
Miniature Crown MasterObtain a miniature crown for many monsters.
Giant CrownObtain your first silver crown or higher.
Giant Crown CollectorObtain a gold crown for 10 or more monsters.
Giant Crown MasterObtain a gold crown for many monsters.
A Keen-eyed ObservationUse the binoculars to spot a gold-crown large monster in the field.

Crown Hunting Tipsโ€‹

  1. Use your binoculars. From about 50m out, the binoculars show a crown under the monster's name if it qualifies, and they flag miniature crowns as well as silver and gold. Check before fighting to avoid wasting time on normal-sized targets.
  2. Cycle Investigations. Size is rolled when the monster spawns, and a single-target Investigation keeps whatever size it was saved with, so re-running one gives you the same monster. Save fresh Investigations for fresh rolls. Two caveats: each Investigation allows only three attempts, and double-monster Investigations reroll every size, so they are not locked.
  3. Rest at a tent. Resting rerolls spawns and sizes. It costs Guild Points and is a general high rank mechanic with nothing to do with Environment Link, and the game will not let you change locale from inside an Environment Link anyway.
  4. Track your progress. Open the Hunter's Notes and check the size records for each monster. Crowns are marked when earned.
warning

Crown hunting is the longest grind in the game. Do not try to farm all crowns at once. Focus on monsters that appear in the same region and run Investigations in that area. You will earn many crowns passively over hundreds of hours of play.

Endemic Life and Exploration Achievementsโ€‹

AchievementHow to Unlock
Angling for a BiteSuccessfully fish for the first time.
A-fish-ionadoReel in 30 whoppers while fishing.
Monster (Squid) HunterCatch a giant squid while fishing. Giant squid appear at specific deep-water fishing spots.
A Prize Held High (Secret)Catch a creature that bears an ancient wyvern coin.
I Caught a Shooting Star! (Secret)Catch a creature in the desert that shines like a shooting star. Check the Windward Plains at night.
Explorer of the EastlandsObtain 10 different Special Items of Rarity 6. Eleven exist, so you have one to spare. Most are weather and Emergence gathering nodes, not endemic life. The Wyvernsprout is a parasitic fungus that grows on the rotted corpse of any small monster, not just Ceratonoths. Ceratonoths are simply the easiest farm, since they are weak, travel in herds, and respawn quickly. Harvest the mycelium node.

Gear Progression Achievementsโ€‹

AchievementHow to Unlock
Established HunterReach Hunter Rank 100. Your rank is not locked early: it climbs one step per completed main mission through the Low Rank story, taking you from HR 1 to HR 8. High Rank then caps in stages, at HR 15 after Chapter 4-1, HR 20 after 4-2, and HR 40 after 4-3, with the cap removed entirely once you clear Chapter 6-1 and pass HR 41. From there it is investigation grinding.
Impregnable DefenseForge five different pieces of armor with Rarity 7 or higher.
Power Is EverythingForge five different weapons with Rarity 7 or higher.
A Legacy Restored (Secret)Obtain an Artian Weapon of Rarity 8. Tied to the endgame RNG grind for Group Skill min-maxing.

Frequently Asked Questionsโ€‹

How many achievements does Monster Hunter Wilds have?

There are exactly 50 Steam achievements. None of them are missable, so you can earn all of them on a single character after finishing the main campaign.

Can you earn achievements across multiple characters?

The Steam achievements are account-level and stay unlocked, but the in-game Award progress they read from lives on your save, and you get three character slots with one save each. Eastward Wings checks your in-game award list, so it will never fire if your awards are split across two characters. Stay on one.

How long does 100 percent completion take in Monster Hunter Wilds?

Expect 200 or more hours. Crown hunting and Artian Weapon farming are the two walls between casual completion and the full 50, and they account for most of that time.

How do you farm crowns in Monster Hunter Wilds?

Use your binoculars from about 50m to check for a crown under the monster's name before you engage, which works for miniature crowns too. A single-target Investigation keeps the size it was saved with, so save fresh ones instead of repeating one, and remember each allows only three attempts. Double-monster Investigations reroll sizes every run. Resting at a tent also rerolls spawns.

What is Eastward Wings and how do you unlock it?

Eastward Wings is the capstone achievement, unlocked by obtaining all other 49. It works as the functional equivalent of a PlayStation Platinum trophy.
