Patch History

Understanding the chronological evolution of Necrosmith 2 is crucial, as many early community guides reflect outdated, highly punishing mechanics that have since been rectified.

Early 2024 Updates

March 27, 2024: Official Version 1.0 Release

The game launches on Steam, introducing the new three-disc map structure, the Titan assembly system, and the day/night siege mechanics.

March 28, 2024: Update 1.0.1 (Critical Hotfix)

  • Stability Fix: Addressed a severe memory and rendering crash directly tied to equipping the "Telescope" artifact. Prior to this patch, utilizing the Telescope artificially halted player progression by crashing the client on Disc 2.

March 29, 2024: Update 1.0.2 (Initial Balance Update)

  • Economy Tuning: Initial adjustments to the early-game economy and minor tweaks to early-game spawner health to smooth the notoriously brutal transition from the Portal Disc to Disc 2.

April 2, 2024: Major Update 1.0.3

  • Pacing Adjustments: Addressed mid-game pacing and introduced foundational code architecture required to support upcoming AI overhauls.

April 4, 2024: Major Update 1.0.4 (The AI Overhaul)

  • System Rework: This patch fundamentally altered how the game is played by completely overhauling unit pathing and targeting AI. Prior to 1.0.4, ranged units would inexplicably walk into point-blank melee range of enemy lairs. This patch introduced rudimentary priority tables, preventing ranged units from intentionally closing distances against static structures, thereby making ranged-heavy builds viable.

April 5, 2024: Hotfix 1.0.5

  • Stability: Minor stability corrections and bug squashing following the sweeping behavioral changes introduced in 1.0.4.

April 11, 2024: Update 1.0.6 (The Chaos Update)

  • New Content: Introduced Chaos Mode, a hardcore, randomized survival game mode designed specifically for endgame players who had exhausted the Master Disc and requested infinite replayability.

April 16, 2024: Update 1.0.7 (Chaos Rebalance & Quality of Life)

  • Map Expansion: Responding to intense community feedback that Chaos mode was overly punishing and claustrophobic, Alawar completely rebalanced the mode and increased the physical size of the map disc.
  • Economy Tweaks: Increased gold generation from chests and mines on both the 2nd and 3rd discs. Reduced overall gold prices in the metaprogression store.
  • Stat Adjustments: Buffed the base attributes of Titan body parts, making them more resilient against late-game bosses. Simultaneously, the durability of Tier-2 spawners on Disc 2 was reduced.
  • Bug Fixes: Resolved issues with the second tier of the "Meteor Repeater" machine incorrectly maintaining tier-one stats, and fixed a visual bug where the fog of war would incorrectly disappear when moving the camera far from the tower.
