Raid Bosses

Raid bosses operate outside the normal overworld spawn system. You summon them at your base using a Summoning Altar and fight them within a strict time limit. These encounters demand optimized Pal teams, dedicated base infrastructure, and active party management during multi-phase transitions.

Building the Summoning Altar

Unlock the Summoning Altar in the Ancient Technology tree at Level 33. It costs 3 Ancient Technology Points, 100 Stone, and 20 Paldium Fragments to build.

danger

Raid bosses deal massive structural damage. They will destroy every building within your base radius. Never summon a raid boss inside your main production base. Build a separate "Summoning Outpost" using an alternate Palbox that contains nothing except the Summoning Altar and your combat Pals.

Assign 15 to 20 maximum level combat Pals to the summoning outpost. These Pals fight automatically using their defensive AI while you fire heavy weapons from the perimeter. You have 10 minutes to defeat the boss before the encounter ends.

Crafting Summoning Slabs

Slabs are the keys that initiate each raid encounter. Craft them at a high tier production assembly line using four specific Slab Fragments. These fragments drop exclusively from high level dungeon chests in the Sakurajima and Feybreak biomes. Each raid tier requires a different Slab type, so stockpile fragments during your dungeon runs.

Tier 1: Bellanoir

Bellanoir comes in two versions. The standard Bellanoir (Level 30) is an introductory raid that teaches the summoning mechanics. Bellanoir Libero (Level 50) is a significantly harder version with faster attack patterns and a larger health pool.

Both versions are Dark type. Bring Dragon type Pals to exploit the weakness. Bellanoir's attacks are primarily melee range, so maintain distance with ranged weapons and let your base Pals absorb the aggro.

Tier 2: Blazamut Ryu

Blazamut Ryu (Level 55) is where raid difficulty spikes dramatically. This Dragon/Fire type boss hits hard and features the most punishing phase transition in the game.

During the first phase, Water type Pals dominate. Deal consistent damage while dodging its sweeping fire breath attacks. When Blazamut Ryu reaches exactly 1 HP, it regenerates 30% of its health and shifts its elemental affinity to Electric. Your Water Pals are now at extreme risk.

Immediately recall all Water Pals and deploy Ground types like Anubis, Knocklem, or Digtoise. The electrical attacks in the second phase are devastating to anything weak to Electric. Failing to swap your team results in a near-instant party wipe.

Tier 3: Xenolord, Moon Lord, and Hartalis

These represent the absolute pinnacle of PvE content in Palworld.

Xenolord (Level 60) is a mechanical dragon raid requiring high burst damage and constant repositioning. Its sweeping laser attacks cover massive areas, forcing you to sprint between cover points while your Pals chip away at its health.

Moon Lord (Level 65) was introduced during the Tides of Terraria collaboration event. This non-elemental horror possesses unique hitbox mechanics. You must target and destroy the eyes on its hands and forehead before the central heart becomes vulnerable. Standard elemental strategies do not apply here. Bring your highest raw-damage Pals regardless of typing.

Hartalis (Level 65) is a pure endurance fight. The boss has an enormous health pool and periodic heal phases. Sustained DPS and ammunition management are more important than elemental optimization.

Raid Preparation Checklist

Before summoning any raid boss, confirm the following:

  • Your summoning outpost has no valuable structures inside the base radius
  • You have 15 to 20 combat Pals assigned to the outpost
  • You carry at least two elemental team compositions for phase transitions
  • Your personal weapons and ammunition are fully stocked
  • You have healing items ready for both yourself and your Pals

See Combat and Bosses for the full elemental weakness chart and Breeding and Passives for creating optimized combat Pals.
