Basecamp Upgrades
The Workshop in your basecamp is where you spend wrenches to unlock permanent upgrades. These upgrades make future runs easier and open up new mechanics.
How to Earn Wrenches
You earn wrenches by playing the game. Higher difficulties give better payouts.
- Clear Levels: You get wrenches at the end of each stage. Hard mode gives 1 bonus wrench per level. Guardian 1 and 2 give 2 wrenches, and Guardian 3 and 4 give 3 wrenches.
- Find Data-Logs: Collecting any of the 51 hidden Data-Logs awards 3 golden wrenches each.
- Defeat Enemies: Enemies occasionally drop golden wrenches.
- Trade Power Cells: Sometimes you find Bazaar Bob during a run. He trades your extra Power Cells for wrenches.
Early Upgrade Priorities
When you first start, you have limited wrenches. Buy these upgrades first to jumpstart your progression.
- Starter Pack: Gives you a random weapon at the start of a run. This saves you from using the basic pistol in the first area.
- Powercell Bank: Increases the number of Power Cells you can carry. You need these to upgrade weapons during a run.
- Healing Cell Efficiency: Increases the amount of health you get from enemy drops. This is crucial for staying alive.
Unlocking New Features
As you buy upgrades, your Basecamp Level increases. This unlocks new areas and classes.
- Level 4: Unlocks the Engineer class.
- Endless Mode: Once you unlock the wall terminal, you can spend wrenches to access the Endless Mode challenge.
