Boss Mechanics and Evasion

To survive Guardian difficulties, you must understand specific boss attack patterns and evasion strategies. Relying on disorganized dodging will result in rapid deaths.

IRIS (Final Boss)

IRIS is the final boss and features a notoriously difficult two-phase fight.

Phase 2 Strategies

The second phase generates immense visual clutter. You must navigate a combination of massive area-of-effect (AoE) damage, homing projectiles, and static laser grids known as Security Doors.

  • Read the Telegraphs: Learn to recognize the specific wind-up animations for each attack.
  • Manage the Security Doors: Maintain strict situational awareness of the static laser grids. Frantic, unstructured evasion will often result in you trapping yourself against a laser grid while trying to dodge a projectile.
  • Build Optimization: High single-target burst damage builds are vastly superior to room-clearing builds for this encounter. You need to end the phases quickly before the visual clutter overwhelms you.

The Catercoaster

The Catercoaster is a mid-game boss that requires a structured approach. Instead of treating this as a chaotic damage race, break down its specific moveset:

  • Tripmine Trap: Deploys mines behind it directly onto the rail. Do not follow it too closely.
  • Turret Toss: Launches capsules that spawn stationary laser turrets. Destroy these turrets immediately to reduce incoming crossfire.
  • Rocket Barrage: Fires a volley of homing missiles. Use slides or cover to break line of sight.
  • Accelerate!: A high-impact charge attack. Watch for the visual and audio cues and prepare to make a sharp evasive maneuver.
