Co-op and Brobot
Roboquest allows you to play with a partner, known as a "Brobot." While having a second player adds firepower, it also introduces shared risks that you must manage carefully.
The Revive Penalty
In cooperative play, the standard failure state changes. When your health reaches zero, the run does not end immediately. Instead, you enter a downed state, and your partner must revive you.
Warning: Executing a manual revive drains 50% of the reviving player's current health.
This mechanic forces a dangerous downward spiral. If one player goes down in a boss fight, the other player sacrifices half their health to bring them back, making it highly likely that both players will die shortly after.
Co-op Exclusive Gadgets
To mitigate the revive penalty, you must find cooperative-exclusive items. Prioritize routes that give you access to vendors early in the run to secure these gadgets.
The Phone Charger
The Phone Charger is the most important co-op item in the game. It costs 8 Powercells and provides two massive benefits:
- Increases your rebooting speed by 25%.
- Completely removes the health penalty for reviving a downed partner.
If you are playing co-op on higher Guardian difficulties, buying the Phone Charger is effectively mandatory.
Other Co-op Items
- Heart Necklace: Spawns exclusively in multiplayer sessions and provides shared benefits.
- Walkie Talkie: Another multiplayer-exclusive item that helps coordinate with your Brobot.
Strategies for Co-op
- Split the Loot: You and your Brobot do not share an inventory. Communicate before grabbing weapons or perks to make sure both players have strong builds.
- Divert Aggro: If your Brobot is low on health, play aggressively to draw enemy fire so they can safely collect Healing Cells.
