Endless Mode
Introduced in the 1.5 update, Endless Mode provides a rigorous, infinitely scaling challenge that operates on entirely different progression vectors than the standard campaign.
How to Unlock Endless Mode
You access Endless Mode via a broken portal in the Basecamp. You can unlock it in two ways:
- Spend 120 Wrenches to repair the portal directly.
- Complete a standard run on Guardian 1 difficulty or higher, which unlocks it for free.
Singularity and Glitch Mutators
Endless Mode uses a dynamic difficulty scaling system based on mutators.
Upon completing each stage, the game automatically applies either a Singularity or a Glitch:
- Singularity: A major, run-altering modifier that significantly buffs enemy lethality or changes fundamental rules.
- Glitch: A minor modifier that introduces environmental hazards or smaller enemy buffs.
You must constantly adapt your playstyle to survive the compounding effects of these mutators.
Duo-Boss Encounters
Every two to three levels, you are forced into a Duo-Boss encounter. You must face two campaign bosses simultaneously in highly confined arenas (for example, fighting Diggy Mole and IRIS concurrently).
Survival Strategy: This is a massive difficulty spike that invalidates standard boss strategies. You cannot rely on slow, methodical area-of-effect builds. You must hyper-optimize your early perk selections for single-target burst damage. Focus entirely on eliminating one threat as quickly as possible to reduce the incoming damage before turning your attention to the second boss.
Alternate Biomes
Endless Mode features condensed, enemy-dense alternate versions of standard biomes. Expect to fight through challenging variants like the unique Corrupted Canyon, which forces tighter engagements and faster reaction times than the standard campaign levels.
