Weapons and Gunplay

Roboquest emphasizes fast, aggressive gunplay. The weapon sandbox is large, and you need to adapt to what you find during a run.

Hip-Fire Rules

Most weapons do not have Aim-Down-Sights (ADS). Only sniper rifles and a few specific optics allow you to zoom in.

You must rely on hip-fire accuracy. This design forces you to keep your movement speed high. If you try to stop and aim, you will take damage. Keep moving, keep shooting, and trust your crosshair.

Weapon Types

Weapons fall into several broad categories. Find the ones that match your class.

  • Assault Rifles: Consistent damage at medium range. Good for Guardians.
  • Shotguns: Massive burst damage up close. Perfect for Recons and Commandos.
  • Snipers: High single-target damage. Ideal for Rangers.
  • Explosives: Rocket launchers and mortars. Great for clearing rooms, but watch your splash damage.
  • Elemental Weapons: Weapons that apply burn, shock, or freeze effects. Best used with the Elementalist.

Weapon Upgrades and the Arsenal System

During a run, you will find upgrade stations and NPCs to improve your weapons. Understanding the economy between Chef Paul and Willy Wonder is critical for late-game scaling.

Chef Paul (Powercells)

Chef Paul unlocks automatically when your Workshop reaches Level 4. You spend standard Powercells at his station.

  • Reroll Affixes: Change the bonus stats on your weapon for 1 Powercell. Look for synergies with your class perks.
  • Upgrade Level: Chef Paul has a base 15% chance to grant an additional weapon level when you upgrade a firearm. You can increase this chance via the "Chef Double Star" Workshop upgrade.

Willy Wonder (Crystal Powder)

Introduced in the Arsenal Update (v1.2), Willy Wonder uses a late-game currency called Crystal Powder. You acquire this powder at the end of levels containing a Corrupted Crystal that you have already claimed in a previous run.

Use Willy Wonder to upgrade weapons from Epic (purple) rarity to Fantastic (orange) rarity.

Economy Strategy: Use standard Powercells at Chef Paul to reroll affixes and bump levels early on. Hoard your Crystal Powder for Willy Wonder to secure Fantastic weapons before the final encounters. Do not waste Crystal Powder on early-game weapons.

Managing Ammo

Ammo drops frequently from enemies and chests, but you can still run out during a long boss fight.

Always carry two different weapon types. If you run two shotguns, they pull from the same ammo pool, and you will run dry fast. Pair an energy weapon with a kinetic weapon to manage your resources.
