Community Center

Tactical Quick Answer

You restore the Community Center by completing Bundles of specific items across six rooms, which repairs the Quarry bridge, the Greenhouse, the ore panning site, the Minecarts, and the Bus. Start it from Spring 5 by entering Pelican Town from the bus stop on a sunny day between 8:00 AM and 1:00 PM, examining the golden scroll, then visiting the Wizard. The alternative is a 5,000g JojaMart membership from Morris, which converts the building into a Joja Warehouse and lets you buy the same upgrades with gold.

Restoring the dilapidated Community Center is the primary narrative goal of Stardew Valley. By completing "Bundles" of specific items, you repair the town's infrastructure, unlocking greenhouses, minecarts, and the desert bus.

Alternatively, you can purchase a JojaMart membership from Morris for 5,000g, turning the Community Center into a Joja Warehouse. This path allows you to buy the town upgrades with gold instead of items. This guide focuses on the traditional Community Center restoration route.

Unlocking the Community Centerโ€‹

From Spring 5 onward, enter Pelican Town from the bus stop on a sunny day between 8:00 AM and 1:00 PM. This triggers a cutscene with Mayor Lewis. Inside the center, examine the glowing golden scroll in the lower-left room. The next morning, you receive a letter from the Wizard. Visit his tower in the Cindersap Forest to gain the ability to read the Junimo scrolls.

You can now track your bundle progress from anywhere by opening your inventory and clicking the Golden Scroll icon on the right side of the menu.

Bundle Strategiesโ€‹

The Community Center requires items spanning every skill and season. Planning ahead is non-negotiable. If you miss a seasonal crop or fish, you must wait a full in-game year for it to return (or hope the Traveling Cart sells it).

1. The Crafts Room (Foraging)โ€‹

This room requires seasonal forageables, wood, stone, and exotic items. Completing it repairs the bridge to the Quarry.

  • Check daily: Gather the standard Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter forage bundles as soon as the season starts.
  • The Construction Bundle: Requires 198 Wood, 99 Stone, and 10 Hardwood. The Wood is split across two separate 99-stacks, so you need double what the slot count suggests. Upgrade your axe to Copper as soon as possible to break the large stumps on your farm for Hardwood.
  • The Exotic Foraging Bundle: You only need 5 of the 9 options. Tap an Oak, Maple, and Pine tree immediately. Combine those syrups with a Cave Carrot and a Red Mushroom (found in the Mines) to easily clear this bundle. Tap a second Maple, because the Chef's Bundle wants Maple Syrup too and syrup takes about nine days to fill.

2. The Pantry (Farming)โ€‹

This room requires crops, artisan goods, and animal products. Completing it repairs the Greenhouse on your farm, allowing you to grow crops in any season.

  • The Quality Crops Bundle: Requires 5 Gold-quality Parsnips, Melons, Pumpkins, and Corn (you only need 3 of the 4). Use Quality Fertilizer and not Basic if you can, because Basic only lifts your gold rate to around 20% at low Farming levels. The Vault's own 5,000g bundle pays out 30 Quality Fertilizer, so clearing that one early feeds this bundle directly.
  • The Animal Bundle: Needs 5 of 6, and a basic Barn plus a basic Coop cannot finish it. Those two produce only Large Milk, Large Egg, and Large Brown Egg. You need at least a Big Barn for Large Goat Milk and a Big Coop for Duck Eggs. The "Large" products also require high animal friendship and mood, so keep them fed and petted.
  • The Artisan Bundle: Needs 6 of 12, and it wants Truffle Oil and not a raw Truffle. That slot is a long pipeline: a Pig needs a Deluxe Barn, and an Oil Maker needs Farming level 8 plus 50 Slime, 20 Hardwood, and a Gold Bar. Fill the easy six with Cheese, Goat Cheese, Cloth, Honey, Jelly, and any fruit-tree fruit instead, and treat Truffle Oil as a late fallback.

3. The Fish Tank (Fishing)โ€‹

This room requires specific fish caught in various seasons, weathers, and locations. Completing it removes the glittering boulder next to the mine entrance, allowing you to pan for ores.

  • Check the Weather: Some fish, like the Walleye (Fall) or Catfish (Spring/Fall), only appear when it rains. Check the TV daily. The Pufferfish is the exception that catches people out, since it needs sun, not rain.
  • The Specialty Fish Bundle: All four are required. Catch a Sandfish in the Desert (which needs the Vault completed, so this bundle usually finishes last), a Ghostfish in the Mines, a Woodskip in the Secret Woods, and a Pufferfish in the Ocean between noon and 4:00 PM on a sunny Summer day.

The Secret Woods entrance is sealed by a large log, and the axe tier that clears it is the Steel Axe, at 5,000g and 5 Iron Bars from the Blacksmith. There is no Iron Axe in this game. The upgrade path runs Axe, Copper, Steel, Gold, Iridium, and the Copper Axe only clears large stumps. If you are on the Forest Farm map you can skip all of that, because Woodskip spawn there too.

4. The Boiler Room (Mining)โ€‹

This room requires ore bars, gems, and monster loot. Completing it repairs the Minecarts, providing fast travel around the map. Prioritize this room immediately.

  • Reach Floor 80 for the Gold Ore the Blacksmith's Bundle needs, then push past Floor 81 for the Fire Quartz the Geologist's Bundle asks for. Floor 80 alone does not finish the room.
  • The Adventurer's Bundle takes any two of four: 99 Slime, 10 Bat Wings, 1 Solar Essence, or 1 Void Essence. Do not grind slimes for it. One Solar Essence plus one Void Essence clears it outright, and Krobus sells both in the Sewers.

One caveat on prioritizing this room: the Boiler Room only appears after you have completed two bundles elsewhere, so it cannot literally be your first move.

5. The Bulletin Board (Friendship)โ€‹

This room requires obscure items from all aspects of the game. Completing it raises your friendship with every non-marriageable villager by two full hearts.

  • The Chef's Bundle: Requires Fiddlehead Fern (foraged in the Secret Woods during Summer), a Truffle (from Pigs), a Poppy, a Maki Roll, and a Fried Egg.
  • The Dye Bundle: Save a Red Cabbage (only available in Year 2, unless enabled in the advanced game options), Sea Urchin (foraged at the beach), Sunflower, Duck Feather, Aquamarine, and Red Mushroom.

6. The Vault (Gold)โ€‹

This room does not require items. It requires cold, hard cash. You must pay a total of 42,500g to unlock all bundles in this room. Completing it repairs the Bus, granting access to the Calico Desert and the Skull Cavern.
