Ginger Island and the Endgame

Ginger Island represents the true endgame of Stardew Valley. It operates on a localized economy driven by Golden Walnuts, bypassing gold for infrastructure development.

Unlocking Ginger Island

You unlock access to Ginger Island after completing either the Community Center or the Joja Warehouse. Willy will send you a letter inviting you to the back room of his fish shop. There, you must repair his old boat using 200 Hardwood, 5 Iridium Bars, and 5 Battery Packs.

Once repaired, you can purchase a ticket to Ginger Island for 1,000g.

The Golden Walnut Economy

Golden Walnuts are the exclusive currency for island upgrades. There are exactly 130 Golden Walnuts hidden across the island. You find them by solving environmental puzzles, fishing, mining, farming, and exploring the Volcano Dungeon.

You spend Golden Walnuts with the local parrots to unlock the Island Farmhouse (allowing you to sleep on the island), the Beach Resort (allowing Pelican Town villagers to visit), and the regional fast-travel system.

The Volcano Dungeon and The Forge

The northern tip of the island houses the Volcano Dungeon. Unlike the Pelican Town Mines or the Skull Cavern, the Volcano Dungeon is a 10-floor combat gauntlet with no elevator checkpoints. It features lava mechanics, fire-based enemies, and requires you to carry a Watering Can to cool lava into walkable paths.

The Forge

At the summit of the Volcano (Floor 10) sits the Forge. The Forge introduces a secondary upgrade tier where you spend Cinder Shards (gathered in the dungeon) and Galaxy Souls to enchant weapons and tools.

  • Weapon Enchantments: Add combat utility, such as "Vampiric" (lifesteal) or "Crusader" (extra damage to undead).
  • Tool Enchantments: Provide massive utility buffs. The "Powerful" enchantment allows your Axe to break large stumps regardless of its upgrade tier. The "Bottomless" enchantment grants your Watering Can infinite water.

Qi's Walnut Room

Located on the western side of the island, Qi's Walnut Room serves as the ultimate endgame hub. You must find 100 Golden Walnuts to enter.

Qi Gems and Extreme Quests

Inside, Mr. Qi offers extreme-difficulty quests, such as reaching floor 100 of the Skull Cavern while hungry, or traversing a "dangerous" modified version of the Pelican Town Mines. Completing these quests rewards Qi Gems.

You spend Qi Gems to purchase best-in-slot items, including:

  • Key to the Town: Allows access to any building in Pelican Town at any time.
  • Pierre's Missing Stocklist: Allows seeds to be purchased out of season.
  • Enrichers: A sprinkler attachment that automatically applies fertilizer to adjacent soil.

The Perfection Tracker

The room also houses the Perfection Tracker. This terminal measures your absolute completion of the game across all metrics (shipping, relationships, crafting, obelisk construction). Reaching 100% unlocks the True Perfection ending, access to The Summit, and the Statue of True Perfection (which produces Prismatic Shards daily).
