Achievements

Terraria features 137 achievements that track your progress from punching your first tree to slaying the final boss. Earning them provides a structured roadmap through the game. The global completion rates reveal a harsh reality about the game's steep difficulty curve: nearly half of all players abandon the game before taking significant action.

This guide breaks down the most important progression achievements, their global unlock rates, and explains how to get them.

Steam API Desynchronization

[!WARNING] A documented technical glitch results in the Steam API occasionally failing to register local client achievements. Your Steam profile may display an achievement at 0% completion despite you fulfilling the mechanical triggers in-game. Restarting the client sometimes forces a synchronization, but you may need to complete the trigger again on a new world if the API fails to register it.

Early Game Milestones

These achievements unlock naturally during your first few hours. They serve as a tutorial for the core gameplay loop.

AchievementGlobal %ConditionTips
Timber!!53.8%Chop down a tree.Equip your starting copper axe and swing at the base of any tree. Pine Wood and Feywood are excluded from this trigger.
No Hobo-Build a valid house for an NPC.You need 60 to 750 total tiles of space, a door, a table, a chair, walls, and a light source.
Ooo! Shiny!-Mine your first ore with a pickaxe.Dig straight down until you find copper, iron, or lead. Block Swap functionality is invalid for this trigger.

Boss and Event Progression

Boss achievements are mandatory milestones. If you are missing one, you have skipped a crucial part of the game's progression. Notice how the completion rates plummet as the game transitions into Hardmode.
