Achievement Guide

Tactical Quick Answer

The Survivalists has exactly 42 Steam achievements spanning exploration, crafting, combat, monkey training, quests, and multiplayer. Most unlock naturally across a full playthrough, and a completionist run takes roughly 15 to 30 hours. The two rarest by a wide margin are I am the Lore! and It's Elementary!, both under 3 percent, followed by The Real Escapist, Opulent Curio, and Getting Crafty at around 4 percent. Four more require online co-op and cannot be earned solo.

The Survivalists has exactly 42 Steam achievements covering exploration, crafting, combat, monkey training, quests, and multiplayer. Most unlock naturally during a full playthrough, but a handful need specific actions or a co-op partner. A completionist run takes roughly 15 to 30 hours depending on how thoroughly you explore each island.

Global completion data shows one wall and not a slope. About 40 percent of players reach 60 kills, but only 9 percent finish a single labyrinth. Almost everyone who finishes one finishes all four, and then only 4 percent go on to repair the galleon and escape. The labyrinth entrance is the real filter.

info

Unlock rates below are Steam global percentages as of August 2026. They move slowly over time, so treat them as a difficulty ranking and not a fixed number.

Progression Achievementsโ€‹

These unlock as you hit major milestones in your survival and escape journey.

AchievementHow to UnlockUnlock Rate
Gone WildLeave the safety of the starting alcove. Triggers within the first minute.94.4%
Paradise FoundSleep in a bed. Remember it needs a bed sheet on it first.76.6%
Didn't StarveSurvive 127 in-game hours. That is a little over an hour of real play, so it pops on its own during your first session.62.9%
Sail AwayUse a raft for the first time. You need a Makeshift Sail from the Mysterious Stranger before it will move.44.1%
I'm an Explorer Now!Discover another island.43.7%
At last!Find the Storm Map.9.0%
On Point!Find the Compass.9.0%
Heading Home!Find the Figurehead.8.9%
Wheely Lucky!Find the Ship Wheel.8.9%
The Real EscapistEscape in the galleon. Needs all four ship parts and the full repair.4.0%

All four ship-part achievements sit within a tenth of a percent of each other. Each labyrinth gives you one of the four parts at random, so there is no fixed pairing and no escalating difficulty between them. Clearing your first labyrinth is the wall. Clear one and you almost certainly clear all four.

tip

The galleon repair is the bottleneck for "The Real Escapist." It eats 120 Wooden Slats, 50 Metal Nails, 15 Gold Nails, 21 Wooden Rods, 11 Makeshift Sails, 45 Rope, and 2 Metal Hinges. Alone with no helpers that is about 25 minutes of crafting, so bring building monkeys, since several of you can work the hull at once.

Crafting and Recipe Achievementsโ€‹

These reward you for unlocking recipe pools across the game's crafting stations. You do not need to craft every item. You just need to unlock the recipe nodes in the blueprint tech tree.

AchievementHow to UnlockRate
Hands OnUnlock all hand crafting recipes: Hand Axe, Rope, Tool Handle, Flimsy Multitool, Comfy Padding, Straw Bundle.80.1%
HarvesterHarvest 500 resources by digging, mining, chopping, or killing. Only your own swings count. Anything a monkey harvests does not.65.2%
Camping OutUnlock all campfire recipes. Twelve crafts do it, including Foul Meal, Charcoal, and Glass Bottle (Clean Water), and the rest unlock behind those.13.9%
Forging AheadUnlock all furnace recipes. Fifteen Forge recipes plus the Bomb blueprint, which the Beast Master gives you. Building the Forge alone is not enough.13.5%
Structural IntegrityUnlock all blueprint recipes. Twenty-three building blueprints plus five farming ones: Flimsy Garden Patch, Pond, Water Feature, Taming Bench, Refuse Pit.8.9%
Overcooked!Unlock all cooking pot recipes. Nine exist, but they cascade, so four crafts cover the lot: Pastry, Chocolate Bar, Meat Pastry, Meat Pie.8.1%
Getting CraftyUnlock all craft bench recipes. Nineteen bench recipes plus five blueprints you buy from the Mysterious Stranger: the Makeshift Sail and all four backpack upgrades.4.3%
Opulent CurioCraft a Gold Statue at the Forge from 1 Gold Nails and 2 Gold Sheet. Craft it yourself, since a monkey crafting it does not count.4.0%
info

Recipe achievements need the recipe node unlocked, not the item crafted. If you are one short, the missing node is almost always bought and not discovered. Getting Crafty needs five blueprints from the Mysterious Stranger's shop, and Forging Ahead needs the Bomb blueprint the Beast Master hands you.

Getting Crafty is worth flagging on its own. At 4.3 percent it is the fifth rarest achievement in the game, behind only I am the Lore!, It's Elementary!, Opulent Curio, and The Real Escapist, and those five shop purchases are why.

warning

Both "Forging Ahead" and "Camping Out" once failed to trigger even when you had unlocked every recipe. Team17 fixed both in the Achievement and Crop Limit Hotfix on March 22, 2021, a separate release from the Farming Update six weeks earlier. Any current build is fine.

Opulent Curio has its own known flake: it sometimes fails to pop on a valid craft. If that happens, craft another statue.

Combat Achievementsโ€‹

Kill milestones that track your total enemy defeats.

AchievementHow to UnlockUnlock Rate
HunterDefeat 20 enemies.55.4%
Master HuntsmanDefeat 60 enemies.40.2%
Got Any Chips?Kill a fish with a thrown spear. Any spear works, and there is no such thing as a dedicated fishing spear. If it lands in deep water you need a raft to get it back.22.3%
We Didn't Need a Bigger Boat!Kill a shark. They spawn rarely in deep water and along the edge of the shallows, so watch the shoreline while you sail. Throw a spear or shoot from your raft or the beach.17.9%
This is Sparta!Defeat 300 enemies, cumulative across your playthrough.17.1%
tip

The "This is Sparta!" achievement comes naturally if you clear all four labyrinths and fight through raids. Do not grind it separately.

Monkey Training Achievementsโ€‹

These track your monkey management progress.

AchievementHow to UnlockUnlock Rate
This Can Only End WellTrain a monkey in combat. Handing a monkey a weapon is enough, since that puts it in combat mode on its own.83.4%
Monkey See, Monkey Do!Teach a monkey to do something. Hold Q, press E on a monkey, and perform any action before the countdown expires.67.8%
Monkey MakerHave a monkey craft 5 items. The Crafting Bench, Forge, Cooking Pot, and Campfire all count.45.0%
Monkeying AroundGather 5 items with a monkey. In Mimic Mode, pick up an item and drop it in a chest. The monkey then collects everything loose around that chest.41.0%
Monkey BusinessBuild 5 blueprints using monkeys. Give one a multitool and teach it to raise a placed blueprint.38.2%
info

Three achievements refuse monkey labor outright. Harvester counts your own swings and nothing a monkey fells, Opulent Curio only fires if you craft the Gold Statue at the Forge yourself, and Home and Away wants your own multitool raising the blueprint. Hand any of the three to a monkey and it will never pop.

Exploration and Collection Achievementsโ€‹

Rewards for discovering the world and completing treasure tasks.

AchievementHow to UnlockUnlock Rate
Re-QUEST Granted!Complete 1 treasure map. Find a bottle on the beach, read the map, and dig up the treasure.76.3%
Totem'ly AwesomeFulfil a totem's request. Totems ask for one or two specific items.60.6%
Dear DiaryPick up your first lore page. Lore comes from Skeletal Remains, the small skeleton props scattered across every island and inside vaults and labyrinths. Chests do not drop lore.56.8%
Big SpenderSpend 100 doubloons at any merchant. The Mysterious Stranger and all four Taskmasters count, so spend wherever you happen to be standing.44.3%
Lore-manCollect 15 pieces of lore.9.3%
At Your BeQUEST!Complete 30 treasure maps. Time-consuming. Comb every beach for bottles.7.7%
I am the Lore!Collect 30 pieces of lore. The rarest achievement in the game.2.0%
tip

Lore comes from Skeletal Remains, not chests, and that is why so many players stall at Lore-man. Sweep every skeleton you pass, and clear labyrinths, since each labyrinth clear hands you a Founder page on the way out.

Hidden Achievementsโ€‹

Five achievements ship with their descriptions hidden. Steam shows you the name and a blank line until you unlock them.

AchievementWhat It Actually WantsUnlock Rate
At last!Find the Storm Map. It drops from a labyrinth.9.0%
On Point!Find the Compass. It drops from a labyrinth.9.0%
Heading Home!Find the Figurehead. It drops from a labyrinth.8.9%
Wheely Lucky!Find the Ship Wheel. It drops from a labyrinth.8.9%
It's Elementary!Collect all eight elemental weapons.2.2%

Opulent Curio is not hidden. Steam shows you "Craft a golden statue" from the start.

tip

"It's Elementary!" is the second rarest achievement in the game at 2.2 percent, but nothing about it is locked behind co-op. Each of the four Taskmasters unlocks two legendary blueprints for purchase from the Mysterious Stranger once you finish their final task. The Beast Master gives you the Wind Spear and Fire Spear, the Survival Gourmand the Ice Pickaxe and Wind Axe, the Collector the Earth Club and Earth Pickaxe, and the Salesman the Fire Sword and Ice Sword. Each blueprint costs 1 Task Token. The rate is low because finishing all four Taskmaster chains takes a full playthrough, not because a world seed can lock you out.

Miscellaneous Achievementsโ€‹

Unique unlock conditions.

AchievementHow to UnlockUnlock Rate
How Did That Work?Emote while standing on an emote switch in a vault or labyrinth. The wall next to the plate tells you which of the six poses to use, so there is no guessing. Rooms with more than one plate need monkeys in Mimic Mode to hold the others.36.0%
Totally BuffHave health, stamina, and biome resistance buffs running at once. A Slow Cooked Stew covers health and stamina. Drink a Glass Bottle (Elixir) for swamp resistance or a Glass Bottle (Clean Water) for volcanic resistance before the stew wears off. All three are Campfire recipes and no DLC is involved.5.1%

Multiplayer Achievementsโ€‹

These require online co-op with at least one other player.

AchievementHow to UnlockUnlock Rate
Just Visiting!Visit another player's island. It fires as the world loads.34.2%
Better TogetherComplete a quest on another player's island. Finish a treasure map found in a bottle.28.1%
Home and AwayBuild a blueprint on another player's island. Place it and finish it yourself with a multitool, because a monkey building it does not count.27.6%
She Chose DownComplete a labyrinth on another player's island. It only pops when you walk out into the light at the exit, not on the boss kill.8.8%
warning

Multiplayer achievements cannot be earned in single-player. You need at least one co-op partner. Three of the four take minutes once you join, but "She Chose Down" needs a host who has already bought a labyrinth key and reached Island 2 or beyond. Line that up before you join, or you will finish the session three for four.

Phase 1: Survive and Explore (Hours 1-8)โ€‹

  1. Complete the basic survival loop on Island 1. Build a base, recruit monkeys, set up crafting stations.
  2. "Gone Wild," "Paradise Found," and early crafting achievements unlock naturally.
  3. Craft a raft and discover Island 2 for "Sail Away" and "I'm an Explorer Now!"
  4. Start collecting lore pieces and treasure map bottles on every island.
  5. Fish for "Got Any Chips?" and fight small enemies to build toward combat milestones.
  6. Set up farming (Garden Patches for Petals, Berries, Wheat) to unlock farming-related recipes.

Phase 2: Labyrinth Clears and Taskmasters (Hours 8-18)โ€‹

  1. Work the Taskmasters in order. Each points you at the next: the Mysterious Stranger sends you to the Beast Master, who sends you to the Survival Gourmand, then the Collector, then the Salesman.
  2. Purchase Labyrinth Keys from the Mysterious Stranger. They run 1,500 to 10,000 doubloons, so start saving early.
  3. Clear the Bat Labyrinth on Island 2. Train combat monkeys for this.
  4. Progress to Islands 3, 4, and 5. Carry Rope Ladders, since vaults on the last two islands will not open without one.
  5. Each labyrinth hands you one of the four ship parts at random. Clear all four and the four part achievements all land.
  6. Complete Taskmaster quest chains to unlock trinket recipes and legendary weapon blueprints.

Phase 3: Cleanup and Escape (Hours 18-25)โ€‹

  1. Hunt remaining lore pieces from Skeletal Remains. You need 30 for "I am the Lore!"
  2. Complete treasure map tasks toward "At Your BeQUEST!" (30 maps).
  3. Buy the five missing blueprints from the Mysterious Stranger for "Getting Crafty," and get the Bomb blueprint from the Beast Master for "Forging Ahead."
  4. Craft a Gold Statue yourself for "Opulent Curio." A monkey doing it does not count.
  5. Get "Totally Buff" by stacking a Slow Cooked Stew with a Glass Bottle (Elixir) or Glass Bottle (Clean Water), all from the Campfire.
  6. Finish "Harvester" by hand if it is still open, since monkey harvesting does not count toward it.
  7. Find the galleon, finish the repair, and escape for "The Real Escapist." Your save continues afterward.

Phase 4: Multiplayer and Elementals (Flexible)โ€‹

  1. Finish all four Taskmaster chains and buy the eight legendary blueprints from the Mysterious Stranger for "It's Elementary!"
  2. Join a friend's world for the four multiplayer achievements. Check the host already has a labyrinth key, or "She Chose Down" is off the table.

Frequently Asked Questionsโ€‹

How many achievements does The Survivalists have?

Exactly 42 Steam achievements. They cover exploration, crafting, combat, monkey training, quests, and multiplayer, and a completionist run takes roughly 15 to 30 hours depending on how thoroughly you explore each island.

What is the rarest achievement in The Survivalists?

I am the Lore! is the rarest at about 2 percent, needing 30 lore pages pulled from Skeletal Remains across all five islands and the labyrinths. It's Elementary! is next at about 2.2 percent, then a three-way cluster near 4 percent: The Real Escapist, Opulent Curio, and Getting Crafty.

Can you get every achievement in single player?

No. Just Visiting!, Home and Away, Better Together, and She Chose Down all require online co-op. Three are quick once you join, but She Chose Down needs a host who already owns a labyrinth key, so arrange that in advance.

Can you collect all eight elemental weapons in single player?

Yes. Every one of the eight comes from the Mysterious Stranger for 1 Task Token, and each of the four Taskmasters unlocks two of them when you finish their final task. The Beast Master covers the Wind Spear and Fire Spear, the Survival Gourmand the Ice Pickaxe and Wind Axe, the Collector the Earth Club and Earth Pickaxe, and the Salesman the Fire Sword and Ice Sword. No trading and no second world are needed.

Which achievements do monkeys not count toward?

Three. Harvester needs you to swing yourself, Opulent Curio needs you to craft the Gold Statue yourself, and Home and Away needs you to raise the blueprint with your own multitool. Hand any of the three to a monkey and the achievement will never pop.
