Competitive and Tournaments

The competitive infrastructure of Tricky Towers underwent a fundamental overhaul in December 2016 with the "Tournament Update." This expansion redefined the endgame, shifting focus from single-player trials to long-term multiplayer engagement and endless high-score chasing.

This guide explains the systems that govern the competitive ecosystem.

The Endless Leaderboards

The Tournament Update introduced the Endless Single-Player Leaderboard system. This structure is designed for players who have exhausted the 50 base trials and want to optimize their scoring algorithms.

The leaderboards track high scores across all three core modes: Puzzle, Race, and Survival. Crucially, these leaderboards feature algorithmic resets on both a weekly and monthly basis. This rolling structure prevents the boards from permanently stagnating at mathematically perfect scores and allows new players a window to compete for the top ranks.

Multiplayer Online Cups

A Cup is not a single match. It is an aggregated sequence of randomized modes (Race, Puzzle, Survival) set to varying difficulties (Easy, Normal, Special).

To secure the "Cup winner!" achievement, you must navigate this multi-round tournament structure and emerge with the highest cumulative score.

Point Distribution Matrix

The scoring logic for Online Cups relies on a strict placement matrix per round. Your performance in an individual round directly determines your points:

  • 1st Place: 3 Points
  • 2nd Place: 2 Points
  • 3rd Place: 1 Point
  • 4th Place: 0 Points

Because the modes and difficulties are randomized, you cannot rely on a single specialized skill. You must be able to win a low-gravity Puzzle mode just as consistently as a high-wind Race mode to secure the overall Cup victory.
