Achievement Guide

Tactical Quick Answer

Unrailed 2: Back on Track has exactly 60 Steam achievements, and none of them are hidden: every one ships with a visible description. They cover distance milestones, biome unlocks, boss defeats, challenge feats, economy mastery and creative exploits. Some unlock naturally, while others demand deliberate strategies or specific game modes. The final GG achievement requires every other one first, and sits at 0.1 percent.

Unrailed 2: Back on Track has exactly 60 Steam achievements, and none of them are hidden. Every one carries a public description, so there is nothing to spoil and nothing to hunt blind. They span distance milestones, biome unlocks, boss defeats, challenge feats, economy mastery and creative exploits. The final GG achievement demands every other one first.

:::note About the unlock percentages below These are Steam global rates as of August 6, 2026, and they move faster than you would expect. Steam counts everyone who has played the game, so a free weekend adds a wave of new accounts to the denominator and pushes every figure down at once. Unrailed 2 has had two of those, most recently on July 23, 2026. Treat these as a snapshot, not a constant. :::

info

Unlike the original Unrailed!, Unrailed 2 has permanent progression that carries between runs, and several achievements track cumulative totals across all sessions. Others still demand a specific single run, and those are noted below. One mode-level caveat: achievements are disabled in Sandbox, so anything you want to count has to happen in a real run.

Distance Milestonesโ€‹

Distance achievements track the total uninterrupted distance the train travels in a single run.

AchievementDistance RequiredGlobal Unlock Rate
Train-ee100 m in a single run75.0%
Engine-er500 m in a single run28.4%
Conductor1,000 m in a single run12.6%
Train-agement5,000 m in a single run1.7%
I Am SpeedReach a speed of over 0.5 m/s in Endless mode3.9%
tip

Distance milestones are cumulative within a single run, so reaching 1,000 meters unlocks Train-ee, Engine-er and Conductor together. For scale, the all-time single-run record on the public leaderboards sits around 85,700 meters, so Train-agement at 5,000 is demanding but nowhere near the ceiling.

Biome Unlocksโ€‹

These achievements trigger when you first reach each biome during any Endless run.

AchievementRequirement
Just Getting StartedUnlock the Monorail Meadows biome
Sand EverywhereUnlock the Cargo Canyon biome
Don't Get Stuck in a Spiderweb!Unlock the Boxcar Bayou biome
A Vacation DestinationUnlock the Island Interchange biome
It's Hot Around HereUnlock the Boiler Badlands biome
Where did that mountain come from?Unlock the Loco Labyrinth biome
Hidden in Plain SightUnlock the Underground Unit biome
Sit Back and RelaxReach the credits at UnRailD HQ. This takes five of the six biome bosses in a single run, not every biome, and not the secret one. (6.7%)
info

Biome unlocks are permanent, and once you have reached a biome you can start future runs there. Note the shape of the list: the six ordinary biomes run from 72 percent down to about 15, and then Hidden in Plain Sight sits at 5.9 percent because Underground Unit is a secret biome you enter through a tunnel under a mountain. Those tunnels only appear reliably once you are revisiting a biome.

Boss Defeatsโ€‹

Each biome boss has a dedicated achievement. These trigger on the first successful defeat of each boss.

AchievementBossBiome
It's Raining Dynamite (44.1%)Mole ChiefMonorail Meadows
Find the Way (22.2%)Sandworm SupervisorCargo Canyon
On your Tippy-Toes (20.9%)Spider QueenBoxcar Bayou
Ebb and Flow (11.3%)OctobossIsland Interchange
Torpedo Hell (9.5%)TorpebossBoiler Badlands
Vanishing Trick (9.7%)MothermimicLoco Labyrinth
Lookout! Lasers! (0.6%)Head of the United Railway DivisionUnderground Unit
tip

Beat each boss once and the achievement is yours permanently. The rarity numbers tell you where the wall is: the first six bosses run from 44 percent down to 9 percent, and then Lookout! Lasers! drops to 0.6, because it lives behind the secret Underground Unit biome. If a specific boss is stopping you, read the Biomes and Boss Strategies Guide and rehearse in Sandbox, which unlocks after three boss kills.

Economy and Shoppingโ€‹

AchievementRequirementNotes
Hexnut HoarderCollect a total of 200 hexnutsCumulative across all runs. You earn 1 per station connected and 3 per boss junction, and the Hexnut Tree wagon produces them passively. (2.7%)
High EarnerEarn 8 bolts on a single mapThe fourth most common achievement in the game. (44.8%)
Just Buy the Whole PlaceBuy everything a shop station offersRequires enough bolts to clear a station's stock. (10.9%)
It's Paying Dividends!Get 10 bolts from the PiggybankThe Piggybank is a special wagon from the ??? Station in Monorail Meadows, so you get one shot per run. It starts at 30 commodities per bolt and improves to 26 at level 2, 18 at level 4 and 10 at level 6. There is a hard cap of 30 inserts per station. (8.4%)
ShopaholicSpend an hour in stations during a single runCombined station time within one run. (9.1%)
Didn't You Forget Something?Trash a wagon by leaving it behind in a stationMost players get this by accident. When the train is at capacity and you take a new wagon, leave the old one on the ground and depart. (19.3%)
tip

High Earner is far easier than its placement suggests, because the dominant term is map difficulty, which the achievement text never mentions. An Extreme level pays 5 bolts by itself, a Double Bolt modifier hides 2 more, the base task pays 1 and a purchased extra task pays 2. That is 10 without doing anything clever. The Nether cartridge raises how often hard and extreme maps appear.

Track Construction and Gameplay Featsโ€‹

AchievementRequirementNotes
Sky HighBuild a stack of 20 tracks(23.4%)
Wrong Way!Turn the train around and go back 30 mBuild track that curves the train back on itself. (1.7%)
TryhardPlay 2 extreme maps in a rowExtreme levels are rare by default, so the real method is stacking the Nether cartridge, which raises the chance of hard and extreme maps. Note that an extreme level always ends at a Cartridge Vault Station. (12.0%)
Bounty HunterFinish 10 tasks in a row without failing oneWatch out for "kill no animals", which fails if a spider dies attacking you or if you destroy a Sandworm nest, including with a bucket of water. (25.3%)
So Many TODOsHave 2 active tasks at the same timeBuy an extra task for 1 bolt at the station signpost. Every station except a Biome Junction has one, and a Sale modifier makes it free. The third most common achievement in the game. (62.6%)
OuroborosReach a biome for the second time in a single runRevisiting a biome raises its base speed and changes the junction gating. (6.8%)
Take the Scenic RouteTake over 20 minutes to reach the stationThe method is a slow engine, not brake tracks. Take the Hydro Coaler or Toy Engine, buy a Slot Machine wagon so you never run out of resources, skip anything that consumes them, and loop the track as tightly as you can. Keep the rail queue short, because the train speeds up above three tracks ahead. (0.7%)
Pack MuleCarry a stack of 10 items or moreBase carrying capacity is 3. One permanent Stacking cartridge plus a Crocodile milking, which grants 6 temporary Stacking, gets you there. Running cartridges offset the movement penalty. (3.7%)
A Conductor's CustomsPlay and finish a custom mapPlay any community or self-made map through to the end. (1.6%)
warning

Wrong Way! means deliberately curving the track back toward where you came from, which burns resources and risks a derailment. Do it on an easy map with the Toy Engine so a mistake costs you nothing.

Wagon and Cartridge Masteryโ€‹

AchievementRequirementNotes
Stacked Tool BeltHave 20 cartridges equipped at the same timeCollect aggressively across biomes. Cartridge Vaults on extreme maps are the richest source, which makes the Nether cartridge useful here too. (4.4%)
A Particular TasteEquip the same cartridge 5 timesFind and equip 5 copies of one type. (5.5%)
The Friends We Made Along the WayAttach 5 different animals to a Milk Wagon at the same timeEasier than it reads, for two reasons. Deer and doe count as different animals, so Monorail Meadows supplies two of the five on its own. And the real constraint is Milk Wagon level: it holds 3 animals at level 1, 4 at level 2 and 5 at level 3, and a Stack-Boost extension adds 2 more. The Carriage Wagon is what keeps animals alive in transit. (0.5%)
Master of DestructionExplode a dynamite of at least level 6A Blacksmith-maxed Dynamite wagon is level 6 on its own, for 49 bolts. Cheaper routes are level 4 plus two Supercharge extensions, a Range-Extension, or parking it next to a Pusher Engine. Avoid Hydrocharge here, since the wagon would catch fire roughly every dynamite and a bit. (6.6%)
Boo!Make all your wagons ghosted without using the Spectral ExpressThe simple route is to level a Ghost wagon until its radius covers the train, since its range comes purely from level: 0 neighbors at level 1, 5 at level 6. The Ghost wagon accepts only Supercharge and Key extensions, so there is no range-extension approach. Alternatively fit a Ghost extension to every wagon individually. (21.6%)
RecyclingExtract an extension from a wagonAt a Blacksmith, Recycle destroys the wagon and keeps its extensions. Purge does the reverse if you want to keep the wagon. (19.5%)
Top of the LineFully spec out a wagonLevel a wagon to 6 and fill all three extension slots. That is 49 bolts of upgrades plus three extensions. (5.0%)
Unlimited Brake PowerFinally add some brakes to your trainNot a wagon purchase. You need the Brakes extension, the only one that fits the engine, and it is sold at exactly one place: the Secret Lab Facility Station beyond the Underground Unit boss. Getting there needs 5 Key extensions to open that boss level. (0.6%)
tip

The Friends We Made Along the Way looks like a multi-biome logistics nightmare and mostly is not. Since February 2025 roped animals cannot be hit with tools or squashed, and they survive biome transitions. What actually gates it is having a Milk Wagon at level 3, or level 1 with a Stack-Boost, so it can hold five at once. The Carriage Wagon, not the Ghost wagon, is the one that protects animals in transit.

Versus Modeโ€‹

AchievementRequirementNotes
Enemies EverywhereFinish a Versus gamePlay one match to completion. (6.4%)
This Is Mine NowSteal 10 items in Versus modeCumulative across matches. Stealing is done with drones from the Versus Constructor Wagon, which you build from wood. The Cannon Wagon has nothing to do with it. (0.9%)

Slot Machineโ€‹

AchievementRequirementNotes
Unlucky DuckyLose 3 times in a row at a slot machine stationThis is the station, not the wagon. Rolls cost 4 bolts each and a reward is guaranteed by the fourth, so this is simply rolls one through three: a guaranteed 12-bolt purchase and not a matter of luck. (5.3%)
Get a LifeWin a life from the slot machineThis is a train life, not an Extra Life cartridge, and it comes from the Slot Machine Station. You cannot get one if you already hold a train life, or if you are on the Toy Engine, which is the whole reason that engine blocks this achievement. Lucky Punch slightly improves the odds. (4.1%)

Boss-Specific Challenge Featsโ€‹

AchievementRequirementNotes
What Goes Around, Comes AroundLet the Sandworm destroy its own hiveThis is the ordinary Cargo Canyon Sandworm, not the boss. Dash when you see the dirt circle to lure it, get right next to the nest, then make sure nobody dashes until it strikes. (4.9%)
ScapegoatHave a Junk Golem shoot down another oneJunk Golems live in Boiler Badlands. They telegraph heavily, holding a torpedo for a full second without being able to turn, so line yourself up with a second Golem behind you and step aside. Everyone on the team gets the achievement. (10.5%)
Watch the World BurnSet a spiderweb field on fireEquip Torch, then stand still on a web while not holding a mining tool. The fire chains to neighboring webs. Holding an axe is why most attempts do nothing. (12.8%)

Hidden and Meta Achievementsโ€‹

AchievementRequirementNotes
OverachieverMine all the resources in the main menuDo it during any session break. (2.2%)
Out of ProductionComplete a map without crafting a single trackThe Slot Machine wagon at a high level produces tracks that do not count as crafted. Otherwise bank 60 or more tracks, then remove the Storage wagon and move the Crafter to the back of the train so nothing crafts by accident. Do not use the Brake Track Wagon, which consumes tracks instead of making them. (1.5%)
On FireHave all wagons burning at the same timeLess catastrophic than it sounds, since a bucket puts wagons out and their water refills afterwards. (9.5%)
Team KillTake out 4 players with a single dynamiteAll four players inside one blast. (4.1%)
Nothing Left BehindMine every resource on a single mapClear every tree and rock. Trees on top of inaccessible mountains genuinely do not count. (15.9%)
Environment FriendlyFinish a map leaving nothing on the groundEasiest on the first level, where you can mine only what you need. Tools may be left on the ground and do not spoil it. (13.8%)
Safe Work EnvironmentReach the credits without using any explosivesMore forgiving than it reads: dynamite the moles drop is explicitly allowed, and so are exploding mushrooms. What counts against you is dynamite you crafted and torpedoes, which is the one that catches people out, since buying a Torpedo Wagon mid-run quietly ends the attempt. (0.9%)
Well InformedComplete the HandbookThe Handbook tracks wagons, stations and extensions among other things, and excludes achievements. The second-rarest achievement in the game. (0.4%)
Felix & Mathilde's Biggest FanFind all soundtrack cassettesThere are far more than four. See the location breakdown below. (0.7%)
GGUnlock all achievementsThe ultimate completionist milestone, and the rarest achievement in the game. (0.1%)

Where the cassettes actually areโ€‹

The achievement text gives no number, and the real total is at least 25:

WhereHow many
Main menu, just below the Cartridge Hub1
Train-ing Facility tutorial, second and third levels, at the top behind a tall rock2
Classic mode, at random1
Every biome3 each. Two spawn in place of ordinary bolts, and the last is always on the boss level.

That bolt-substitution is the part worth remembering: a level that appears to be missing its bolt is often hiding a cassette instead.

danger

Safe Work Environment is a genuine full-game challenge run, though at 0.9 percent it is not the rarest thing here: seven achievements sit below it, running from 0.7 down to GG at 0.1. Path clearing without your own explosives is slow, so bring the Miner Wagon and a strong Crafter instead. Remember the exemptions, because they matter: mole-dropped dynamite and exploding mushrooms are both fine. Watch out for torpedoes, which are banned and easy to buy by accident.

:::tip The five rarest achievements in the game GG at 0.1 percent, Well Informed at 0.4, The Friends We Made Along the Way at 0.5, then Lookout! Lasers! and Unlimited Brake Power tied at 0.6. Two of those five sit behind the secret Underground Unit biome, and that biome is where completionist runs actually end. :::

Phase 1: Learn the Basics (0-15 hours)โ€‹

  1. Play Endless on the Toy Engine, which is free and unlocks as soon as the Engine Foundry opens, until you can consistently clear your first biome.
  2. Biome unlock achievements (Just Getting Started, Sand Everywhere) unlock naturally.
  3. Distance milestones (Train-ee, Engine-er) unlock during normal play.
  4. Focus on resource flow, role delegation and boss mechanics. Do not chase specific achievements. High Earner and So Many TODOs will fall out of ordinary play, and both are among the most common in the game.
  5. Hexnut Hoarder progress accumulates naturally.
  6. Overachiever (main menu mining) can be done anytime during a session break.

Phase 2: Push Through Biomes (15-40 hours)โ€‹

  1. Reach Boxcar Bayou, Island Interchange, and Boiler Badlands to unlock their respective biome achievements.
  2. Defeat each boss for their dedicated boss achievement (It's Raining Dynamite, Find the Way, On your Tippy-Toes, etc.).
  3. Conductor (1,000m) unlocks during deeper runs.
  4. Start collecting cartridges aggressively for Stacked Tool Belt (20 cartridges equipped).
  5. Purchase and use the Piggybank wagon for It's Paying Dividends! - this takes time to accumulate.
  6. Attempt High Earner (8 bolts on one map) during a high-performance run.

Phase 3: Endgame Biomes and Challenge Feats (40-80 hours)โ€‹

  1. Push into Loco Labyrinth and Underground Unit for Where did that mountain come from? and Hidden in Plain Sight.
  2. Defeat the Mothermimic and Head of the United Railway Division for their boss achievements.
  3. Reach the credits for Sit Back and Relax.
  4. Attempt Ouroboros by revisiting a biome. Doing so also makes Underground Unit tunnels spawn on every level, and that is how you find the secret biome.
  5. Work on The Friends We Made Along the Way (5 animals on the Milk Wagon simultaneously).
  6. Master of Destruction (level 6 dynamite) requires significant extension stacking.
  7. Try for What Goes Around, Comes Around and Scapegoat during boss fights.

Phase 4: Completionist Cleanup (80+ hours)โ€‹

  1. Train-agement (5,000m) requires an extremely long, well-managed run. Budget several hours.
  2. Safe Work Environment (no explosives to credits) is a full-game challenge run. Sandbox is the place to rehearse it, and by this point you have long since unlocked it.
  3. Wrong Way! (30m backward) requires a dedicated attempt on an easy map.
  4. Out of Production (no crafting) is best done with a high-level Slot Machine wagon.
  5. Complete the remaining cumulative achievements: Bounty Hunter, Felix & Mathilde's Biggest Fan, Well Informed.
  6. Boo! needs a leveled Ghost wagon, not an exotic build.
  7. Enemies Everywhere and This Is Mine Now both require Versus mode.
  8. Push into the Underground Unit for Hidden in Plain Sight, Lookout! Lasers! and Unlimited Brake Power. This is the real wall.
  9. GG unlocks when everything else is done.
info

Clearing all 60 is a marathon, and the last stretch is concentrated in one place. Safe Work Environment is a full-game challenge run on its own, and three of the five rarest achievements sit behind the Underground Unit, which requires 5 Key extensions just to reach its boss. Budget accordingly.

Frequently Asked Questionsโ€‹

How many achievements does Unrailed 2 have?

Exactly 60, and none of them are hidden. Every achievement ships with a visible description, so there is nothing to unlock blind. They span distance milestones, biome unlocks, boss defeats, challenge feats, economy mastery and creative exploits. GG unlocks only when every other one is complete and sits at 0.1 percent.

What is the hardest achievement in Unrailed 2?

Setting aside GG, which needs everything else first, the rarest is Well Informed at 0.4 percent for completing the Handbook. Then The Friends We Made Along the Way at 0.5, and Lookout! Lasers! for beating the final boss tied with Unlimited Brake Power at 0.6. The last two both sit behind the secret Underground Unit biome, which you cannot even fight the boss of without five Key extensions.

Do Unrailed 2 achievements carry over between runs?

Many of them do. Unrailed 2 has permanent progression, so achievements like Hexnut Hoarder and Bounty Hunter track cumulative progress across all sessions. Biome unlocks are one-time milestones that never need repeating, though some achievements still require specific single-run conditions.

Where are the soundtrack cassettes in Unrailed 2?

There are at least 25, not four. One sits in the main menu just below the Cartridge Hub, two are in the Train-ing Facility tutorial on the second and third levels behind a tall rock, one spawns at random in Classic mode, and every biome holds three. Two of each biome's three appear in place of ordinary bolts, and the third is always on the boss level. If a level looks like it is missing its bolt, that is usually a cassette.

How long does it take to 100 percent Unrailed 2?

Well past 80 hours across four phases: learning the basics, pushing through the biomes, endgame challenge feats, and completionist cleanup. The tail is where the time goes. Train-agement needs a single 5,000 meter run, Safe Work Environment is a whole no-explosives clear, and three of the five rarest achievements are locked behind the secret Underground Unit biome.
